Native Jazz Workshop

Be part of the fusion of a new genre of music. World-class Jazz musicians Christian Fabian, Ed Littlefield, Reuel Lubag and Jason Marsalis will lead students of all ages and abilities in re-creating the spirit of Tlingit and other ancient melodies in Jazz. The one-week workshop will include composing, arranging and harmonizing melodies, with a focus on exploring the history of the musical traditions. Participants can expect both small group classes and one-on-one teaching, followed by evenings of live performances, informal jams and discussions. By the end of the workshop, each student will be able to combine the two musical sources to create brand new work and music never heard before.
