The Sitka Fine Arts Camp is located on the historic Sheldon Jackson Campus in the picturesque coastal community of Sitka, Alaska. Dormitories, dining hall, gym, classrooms, and practice areas are all located on site. The campus is a short walk from downtown Sitka, and the final student performances will be held in Sitka’s state of the art Performing Arts Center.

Classes

The Sitka Fine Arts Camp offers exciting, nationally recognized instruction in visual arts, music, dance, theater, creative writing, Alaska Native Arts, and art technology. Campers come with all levels of experience and may choose to specialize in a particular field or to branch out and try many new art forms. Campers attend five classes a day and work closely with professional artists, Monday through Saturday.

Dining

Meals are served buffet-style and are a time for campers, counselors, and faculty to come together. Vegetarian options are available, and there is an extensive salad bar. If you have dietary restrictions please note them on the Health History Form during registration, and our cooks will do their best to accommodate you.

Recreation

Outside of class, campers can choose from recreation activities, such as soccer, frisbee, open photo lab, trivia chair, a cappella, and much more. There will also be opportunities to explore the great outdoors of Sitka while hiking or kayaking on Recreation Day, the Sunday in the middle of session. Students are also welcome to make arrangements to attend worship services on this day.

Performances

There are many opportunities at Camp for students to share their artwork with one another. Campers put on a talent show, have open mic nights, and may even perform for tourists. The final three days of Camp are dedicated to final student performances, presentations, and visual arts displays. This is a great time for families to visit!
